40 Feet Below the Sea: Underwater Proposal in Bali Turns Viral, Showcasing Love, Distance, and Family Acceptance
A viral underwater proposal 40 feet deep in Bali by Siddhant Dhangar highlights a powerful love story shaped by long-distance challenges, family resistance, and eventual acceptance, offering a meaningful lesson for modern relationships.
The girl, while sharing the video, wrote in the caption, “Said YES 40 feet below… It was the easiest and most peaceful ‘yes’ of my life.” However, the story behind this striking underwater proposal is no less than a Bollywood film. According to the girl, the journey began when a “typical Delhi girl” met a “typical Marathi mulga” on Shaadi.com. Their very first phone call lasted three hours, during which they realized they were alike—both talkative, passionate about their work, and fond of traveling. The girl stated that she found a perfect partner in Siddhant, someone with whom she could feel free.
As reported by Humans of Mumbai, their long-distance relationship between Delhi and Mumbai initially appeared to be the biggest challenge. However, the real difficulty emerged when they informed their families about the relationship. Cultural differences between the two families led to their disapproval of the marriage.
For an entire year, the couple endured tears, arguments, and even a brief breakup when it seemed there was no future. Despite this, they did not give up. When they gathered the courage to meet each other’s parents, the families witnessed their happiness together. Eventually, in December 2025, both families agreed, and their “roka” ceremony was held.
Just five days after the roka, the couple went on a vacation to Bali. The girl had often jokingly asked Siddhant whether he would ever propose. Even while preparing for scuba diving, she scolded him for being “too adventurous,” unaware of what was about to happen underwater.
At a depth of 40 feet in the sea, with a cameraman recording the moment, Siddhant took out a custom-made shell-shaped box containing a ring. He then displayed a poster that read, “
Will you marry me?” The girl recalled that in that moment, their long-distance struggles and efforts to convince their parents flashed before her eyes. She simply hugged him and said yes.
The couple is now set to marry in December this year. This story stands as a significant lesson for today’s youth. As the girl concluded in her post, their relationship was not just made in heaven but strengthened through the fire of choosing each other every day. She emphasized that if one truly loves someone, instead of eloping against family wishes, one should try to convince them with patience and respect. The happiness after overcoming “The Great Indian Family Drama,” she noted, is even more peaceful than being 40 feet underwater.
